Time is running out for eligible Pinellas County residents to apply for two disaster recovery assistance programs designed to help renters recover from storm-related expenses and assist future homeowners.

**Why it matters:** The programs provide financial assistance to residents still recovering from recent disasters while also helping eligible families achieve homeownership.

According to recover.pinellas.gov:

"The People First Hurricane Recovery Programs are here to support **homeowners, renters, and local landlords** impacted by **Hurricanes Idalia, Helene, or Milton.** These programs provide funding and assistance to repair damage, prevent long-term displacement, and make housing safer and more affordable. Check out the programs and qualifications below – if you’re not sure which program meets your needs, you can request assistance from a case manager to help determine the right fit for you."

**The latest:**

- Applications close at **11:59 p.m. Friday, July 31**.
- The **Homebuyer Assistance Program** offers up to **$80,000** to help eligible residents purchase a home in Pinellas County.
- The **Disaster Relief Reimbursement Program for Renters** provides up to **$15,000** to reimburse eligible disaster-related expenses.

**How to apply:**
Residents can submit applications in person from **8 a.m. to 5 p.m.** at either of the following locations:

- **2600 McCormick Drive, Suite 100, Clearwater**
- **5000 Park Street, Suite 4, St. Petersburg**

Applicants can also speak with a case manager by calling **727-606-3307** during business hours or apply online through Pinellas County's disaster recovery portal.

**The big picture:**
Pinellas County continues distributing recovery funding to residents impacted by recent hurricanes and severe weather as communities across the Tampa Bay region rebuild. Local officials encourage anyone who believes they may qualify to apply before the deadline, as applications will not be accepted after Friday night.

**Bottom line:** Eligible Pinellas County residents have only until **11:59 p.m. Friday** to apply for disaster reimbursement or homebuyer assistance. County officials encourage residents not to wait until the last minute to complete their applications.
